Durable Paint Products

Many of the reliable paint products you used and loved years ago were solvent-based. Solvent-based coatings are more oil-based than water-based coatings. Alkyd is one of the most recognizable solvent-based coatings available.

With a solvent base, these coatings tend to be more durable and can form a stronger paint film that will dry more quickly. Many industrial customers utilize solvent-based coatings to paint machinery, storage units, and shelving.

Jamestown Coating Technologies in Jamestown, PA produces the following solvent-based coatings:

Learn More About Durable Solvent Coating Types

⟡ Alkyd
Alkyd is easy to apply and has the benefit of protective qualities. Spray, dip, and flow coat application types are available. Alkyd’s cures are air dry, force dry, and bake. The VOC is 2.5-3.0. Alkyd is available for heavy equipment, containers, automotive, castings, and general metal.
⟡ Polyester High Solids
Polyester High Solids offer flexibility as well as impact resistance and gloss retention. It utilizes a spray application type and a bake cure. Its VOC range is 2.0-3.0 and it is primarily found in metal furniture, lockers, and shelving.
⟡ Single Component Epoxy
Single Component Epoxy has, of course, a single coat. It also has the benefit of opacity and is FDA compliant. Single Component Epoxy uses unique roll and gravure application types. Its cure is bake, and its VOC range is 2.5-3.5. Single Component Epoxy can be seen in flexible packaging and rigid packaging markets.
⟡ 2-Component Urethane & Epoxy Primer
2-Component Urethane & Epoxy Primer is known for corrosion resistance and chemical resistance. It uses a spray application type. Its cure is air dry, force dry, and UV. Its VOC range is between 2.5 and 3.5. The markets that most commonly use 2-Component Urethane & Epoxy Primer are heavy equipment, chemical pumps, plastic containers, glass containers, and electronics.
⟡ Non-Isocyanate 2-Component Acrylic
Non-Isocyanate 2-Component Acrylic is isocyanate free. It uses a spray application and its cure is air dry and force dry. Non-Isocyanate 2-Component Acrylic has a VOC range between 2.5 and 3.5 and is found in engine components and heavy castings.
⟡ Fluoropolymer 2-Component
Fluoropolymer 2-Component has excellent durability and both chemical and corrosion resistance. Fluoropolymer 2-Component has a spray application type and air dry or force dry cures. Its VOC range is between 2.5 and 3.5 and its markets include engine components and heavy castings.
